The Pittsburgh Steelers were one of the NFL’s most active teams in free agency, acquiring several notable names including cornerback Jamel Dean, safety Jaquan Brisker, and Michael Pittman Jr. But one analyst wants to see them make one more move in the form of a former Baltimore Ravens linebacker.
Speaking on CBS Sports, Ryan Wilson named Kyle Van Noy as a free agent who would be a perfect signing for the Steelers.
“I think Kyle Van Noy adds versatility in that he can play off the edge, even though
he’s 35,” Wilson said. “He can play off-ball linebacker. He can be the green dot guy and call the defense. And he brings that locker room leadership that may be lacking now that [former Head Coach] Mike Tomlin has sailed off into the sunset to join us in the media.”
Van Noy had a career renaissance with Baltimore from 2023-25, his most notable season being 2024 in which he registered a career-high 12.5 sacks. In three years with the Ravens, Van Noy had 23.5 sacks. He was a Pro Bowler in 2024 and helped the New England Patriots win tow Super Bowls.
Considering the Steelers’ current room of linebackers and edge rushers, as well as the fact that they already have several starters north of 30 years of age on the roster, this would be s surprise signing to say the least.
