What is the story about?

Bayern Munich Frauen have drawn one of the toughest possible opponents in the DFB-Pokal round of 16.

Immediately after their 2-1 first round win against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the team learned their next opponent — Bayer Leverkusen. Leverkusen advanced to the round of 16 after a 2-0 win over 120 minutes against Viktoria Berlin. The Bavarians will be hosting the game, most likely at the FC Bayern Campus.

Bayern have never met Leverkusen in the Pokal until now, but they have enjoyed a long period

of success against them in the Bundesliga. The last time they failed to beat Leverkusen was back in 2023, when the two teams finished goalless. Their most recent meeting ended in a 3-2 win for Bayern.

The game, along with the other round of 16 matchups, will be played on Halloween weekend, between October 31st and November 2nd. Should Bayern advance to the quarterfinals, they will have to wait until March for their next Pokal game.
