Rob Gronkowski recently became the latest former NFL star to threaten Logan Paul.
The retired football legend said that if the WWE star “wants a piece of me,” then the two can get physical during an upcoming flag football game. Gronk also warned Paul that he’d “whoop his ass.”
Gronkowski made the comments during an appearance this week on the Up & Adams podcast on FanDuel TV. The topic came up when he and host Kay Adams talked about the beef between Paul and another retired NFL player, Le’Veon Bell.
Paul’s issues with Bell started last week when The Vision member arrogantly declared that no football player could beat him in a boxing match. Players like Brock Hoffman of the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills lineman Dion Dawkins responded on social media that they’d take Paul up on the offer, but Bell persisted with messages and accused the wrestler of ducking him.
Paul and the former Pittsburgh Steeler running back then seemingly negotiated a fight publicly over social media, before Paul pulled the plug. According to Paul, his bosses at WWE forced his hand in ending the boxing talk, because they feel (according to him) that he is “too valuable of a WWE superstar to be fighting bums.”
On Up & Adams, Gronkowski said: “I saw Logan just duck Le’Veon Bell. They were supposed to fight. They were supposed to put $1 million each in escrow. And Logan Paul had the WWE owner call him and say, ‘Oh, you can’t do it. Logan Paul, what if you get hurt?’ I just feel like he backed out, and that was just his excuse. He should have just came out and said, ‘Actually, I don’t want to do it.’”
He said he didn’t buy Paul’s excuse, calling it “the biggest crap of all time.”
“I mean, you don’t just call people out, and then it happens, and then you back out like that. It just shows that he’s a flake,” Gronk said.
He then noted that both he and Paul are participating in the upcoming Fanatics Flag Football Classic later this month in Los Angeles.
“If Logan Paul wants a piece of me, we’re both playing in the flag football game on March 21 in L.A.,” Gronkowski said. “I can tell you this, the last time players talked trash to me on a football field, you know, I threw someone out of the club. I broke necks. I laid out defensive ends. I pummeled safeties. No one can tackle me.”
The former tight end continued: ”So, if Logan Paul wants a piece of me, I’m down to throw it down on the field and even throw my fist and just go at it—all-out brawl on the flag football field. I don’t care it’s flag football, and it’s a family event. I will fight him on the field, if he wants to fight me right there and then in the flag football game.”
WWE fans are of course familiar with Gronkowski. The four-time Super Bowl champion, who is friends with former WWE star Mojo Rawley, hosted WrestleMania 36 and even once won the 24/7 Championship.
Gronkowski ended his message for Paul by telling Adams: “If he wants to talk garbage, if he wants some of us, I’ll see him on the field. Because I can tell you this, I know he’s not on my team either. So, if he wants to throw hands, hey, I’m down for it, let’s go.
“He won’t be able to cover me. He won’t be able to grab my flag. I’m gonna smoke him. I can probably play defensive back on him, and I’m gonna whoop his ass as well.”
How do you think a showdown between Gronk and Paul would look? Let us know in the comments.
