What is the story about?
Marcus Rashford’s heroics in Barcelona’s win over Newcastle in their Champions League opener have earned the Englishman the UCL Player of the Week for Matchday 1.
The award, which is voted by fans, celebrates Rashford’s two great goals at St. James’ Park, including an absolute screamer that will be a real candidate for Goal of the Season in the Europe’s top competition.
Rashford beat Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram, and former Blaugrana and current Sporting Lisbon star Francisco Trincão, who each scored a brace of their own in the week, but Barça fans (and maybe some Manchester United ones too) voted in big numbers and made sure that Rashford took home the award.
Well done, Rashy!
