Marc Guiu has been talking about his exit from Barcelona and admits he wished he had spoken properly with Hansi Flick before joining Chelsea.
The striker looked to have an exciting future at Barcelona but
moved on after Chelsea activated a €6 million release clause in his contract in summer 2024.
Guiu has now reflected on that time and admits he wished Flick had called him before he left for London.
“Maybe I could have played at Barça, but they had Lewandowski and Roque,“ he told TV3.
“I spoke to Hansi Flick, but that was during the playoffs. I wish he had called me later to discuss my future, but that never happened. In the end, I realized the situation wasn’t in my favor and left.”
Guiu has since struggled for game time at Chelsea. He was sent out on loan to Sunderland at the start of the campaign but was then recalled after the Blues were hit by injuries.
However, he’s only played 16 minutes since returning to Stamford Bridge and is now being tipped to move on in January.
Barcelona, meanwhile, are thought to be in the hunt for a new No. 9 to take over from ageing striker Robert Lewandowski
