Earlier tonight (Jan. 14), Fightful Select reported that all four members of The Rascalz were backstage at AEW’s Maximum Carnage Dynamite and Collision taping in Phoenix. And that was because Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Dezmond Xavier, and Myron Reed had all signed multi-year deals with All Elite Wrestling.
The group was most recently at TNA, but Reed and Xavier, who’s successful run as Wes Lee in WWE NXT ended unexpectedly last fall, weren’t under long-term contracts. Only Miguel and Wentz were,
and those expired on Dec. 31. One member of the team had apparently decided to leave TNA regardless of what the other three chose, but each and every Rascal was allegedly swayed by Tony Khan’s pitch. A source told Fightful, “AEW came with a better offer.”
The report was seemingly confirmed not long after it came out when this popped up on Dynamite Maximum Carnage:
The Rascalz have held captured tag gold at several stops on the independents, as Xavier and Wentz did in NXT (as Lee and Nash Carter, collectively MSK). Wherever they go and in whichever configuration, their act has remained popular for it’s low-fi “Treehouse” skits/segments, and the group’s stoner comedy schtick.
It sounds like they’ll be together in AEW as a quartet for a while. Let us know your thoughts on that, and we’ll let you know when a more concrete debut date is set.
