Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said neither Myles Garrett nor Terrance Ferguson will return to practice this week.
Both players are currently on injured reserve. They can re-join practice during a three-week practice window without counting against the 53-man roster. The Rams must move them to the roster within the ramp up period or Garrett and Ferguson would revert to season-ending injured reserve.
The fact neither player is practicing could mean the team is concerned about their ability to
return within three weeks. Should we expect to see Garrett or Ferguson soon?
LA has three games remaining until their Week 11 bye. The Rams will host the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium, take a trip to the east coast against the Washington Commanders, and then prepare for their road rematch versus the Arizona Cardinals.
In terms of the most likely outcome, it feels like Garrett and Ferguson are progressing towards a Week 12 appearance against the Green Bay Packers the day before Thanksgiving. That timing also aligns with the three-week ramp up practice window.
On a positive note, McVay also provided an update on Davante Adams. Adams suffered a serious hamstring injury and recently had surgery. He’s a week into the originally reported 6-10 weeks of recovery time. McVay said the veteran receiver is trending towards the earlier side of that spectrum.
The Rams must keep winning in order for future injury reinforcements to matter. Garrett and Ferguson have been absent longer than expected, although fans won’t remember how long they were out if they bolster the team into a playoff run.
