Sidney Crosby has been named the NHL’s second star of the week after scoring 4 goals and 4 assists for the Penguins in 4 games — all wins for Pittsburgh.
Crosby was joined on the NHL’s stars of the week
list with Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov (3 goals and 7 assists in 3 games) and Toronto’s Auston Matthews (5 goals and 1 assist in 2 games).
The Penguins had a perfect week thanks to Sidney Crosby’s efforts with his eight points as Pittsburgh defeated Carolina, Detroit twice, and Columbus this past week.
In the victory against the Blue Jackets, the Penguins trailed 4-1 before rallying back to tie the game in regulation and win it in overtime.
Crosby’s goal that won the game for the Penguins was his 25th career overtime goal and 50th career overtime point.
Pittsburgh has won five in a row in total and with their winning streak in tow, the Penguins are back in a Wild Card playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Crosby has points in seven straight games dating back to before Christmas and sits 14th in the league with 47 overall points.
The Penguins now have a few days off and get back in action Thursday night when they host the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00.
