Lamine Yamal has insisted he won’t relax despite the fact he’s already won league and cup titles with Barcelona as well as the Euros and World Cup with Spain by the age of 19.
The teenager has enjoyed phenomenal success with club and country since bursting onto the scene and is well aware how his record stacks up against the greats of the game.
However, Yamal also says he knows he needs to do a lot more in his career if he is to be considered as one of the very best.
“There have been great stars in
football, like Leo, like Cristiano, or like Diego —whom I wasn’t able to see—but never this early had so much been won. There’s the case of Pele, who indeed won many things early on, but not in recent time,” he told Movistar.
“And there are people who think that because I’ve won, at some point I’ll relax, but I know I have a thousand things to do to go down in football history.”
The one big trophy missing from Yamal’s collection is the Champions League, with the teenager admitting before Barcelona’s win over Feyenoord in their opener that the competition is their “main goal” this season.
