Strained butt cheek aside, it has been a heck of a few weeks for VfB Stuttgart star Deniz Undav.
Undav inked a new deal with his club and might have a starting role with the German national team. However, Undav, like the rest of his mates, has put the full focus on attempting to win the World Cup.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg captured some highlights from Undav’s press availability:
🚨🏆 Deniz Undav made clear: “We all have the same target: we want to become world champions.”
On Manuel
Neuer: “He’s one of the best goalkeepers of all time. A person everyone respects.”
On his role: “I can play both positions – as a No. 10 or a No. 9. I want to score goals or provide assists.”
And, of course, typical Undav: “I became Bundesliga’s top scorer. Harry Kane doesn’t count.”
How Undav greeted me after Germany’s press conference. “Pletti, now I’m here and not Paris Brunner. That was a crazy take from you. Saw it live.” 😄 @SkySportDE
Undav will either start centrally within Germany’s attack or will end up as one of the first options off of the bench. Whatever the case for the 29-year-old, he will be looking to make a big impact for Die Mannschaft.
