Hector Fort is back at Barcelona after a season on loan at Elche and is determined to fight for a place in the squad for the 2026-27 season.
The defender says he’s “learned and improved” from his time away from Barcelona after a campaign where he played 14 times in La Liga, scoring twice and grabbing two assists.
Fort would surely have played more but for a shoulder injury that required surgery midway through the campaign and sidelined him for several months.
According to Diario Sport, Fort’s “absolute
priority” is to stay at Barcelona and he’s hoping he can impress Hansi Flick during pre-season.
There has been some interest in Fort over the summer, but it seems Flick will take a check on him during pre-season before making a final decision.
Fort can play on both sides of the defence but Barcelona do have options on the two flanks with Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Alejandro Balde around. X
avi Espart is also hoping to be part of the first-team squad, while Barca are expected to bring in Joao Cancelo on a permanent deal.
