The Wisconsin Badgers have seen the rough side of the transfer portal to open the offseason, as starters John Blackwell and Aleksas Bieliauskas are both entering and looking to play elsewhere next season.
Those two transfers, paired with the departures of Jack Robison and Riccardo
Greppi to the portal, give the Badgers six open roster spots to deal with this offseason. That may mean another large transfer portal class, like Wisconsin had last offseason.
Wisconsin is losing quite a bit of production overall. Their top two players, Nick Boyd and John Blackwell, are gone. Two other starters, Andrew Rohde and Aleksas Bieliauskas, aren’t coming back either. And Braeden Carrington is out of eligibility as well.
That’s a lot of production to replace, although the Badgers have gotten a commitment from 22-year-old Australian point guard Owen Foxwell to likely replace Boyd next season.
The biggest goal is retaining Nolan Winter and Austin Rapp this offseason, which could be Wisconsin’s frontcourt in 2026. But the Badgers are also targeting a big, in addition to starting-caliber wings, to fill out their starting lineup.
In our weekly reacts poll, we’re asking you guys what the biggest need for the Badgers is this offseason. Is it another point guard? A scoring wing? A capable defender? A true center? Let us know in the poll above and share your thoughts in the comments below!
