Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia picked up a knock and was replaced by Wojciech Szczęsny at half-time of Wednesday’s La Liga clash with Racing at Camp Nou.
Garcia appeared to slip right before half-time and didn’t come out for the second period, with Szczesny taking over and making his first appearance of the season for Barcelona. Hansi Flick opted for the veteran between the sticks ahead of summer signing Dominik Livakovic.
According to RAC1, Barcelona opted to change the Spain stopper as a precaution
and the initial word is that he has not sustained an injury. Garcia will undergo further tests but will hopefully return for Saturday’s game against Sevilla at Camp Nou.
La Liga is then due to pause for the first international break of the season. Garcia is likely to be called up to the Spain squad by manager Luis de la Fuente for Nations League games against England, Croatia and Czechia.
