Following one of the worst weeks of picks ever, we all banded together to have, by percentage, possibly the best week of picks in the history of the contest. The staff was a niiice 69.4% for the week at 25-11 combined. I somewhat redeemed myself by going a perfect 6-0. Andrew, joining me in the “bottom feeders showing life” category only missed once, as did y’all in the Commentariat. Still on the positive side, Tom and Import went 4-2. The worst results were even 3-3 marks by Cole and Christian.
That pulled the staff almost back to .500 for season at 296-298. Was the success because our football brains were not addled by thoughts of impending doom for Vanderbilt who were on their bye last week?
The biggest hits were on Texas and Missouri where 5 staffers and the nerd herd picked up wins. The majority of the staff were right about every single game except the even split over Auburn (+13.5) at Ole Miss. The only game missed by the Commentariat was Florida getting beaten by more than 11.5 points by Georgia.
The success in Week 9 apparently has us very much on the same page in Week 10. No SEC teams are on a bye, so there are 8 SEC-SEC games and the 1 ACC-ACC Lite matchup. We have uanimous picks in 3 games and 5 to 1 splits on another 3 contests. One more matchup has a majority while the final 2 games are even splits. This could swing ugly again really quickly.
The Rules
- Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick.
- The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling, which is especially important with sports gambling being legal in Tennessee now.
- The lines will be taken from FanDuel, who SB Nation has partnered with this season, some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published. I may also use a backup for FBS-FCS matchups if the line is available elsewhere when I get the spreads.
