For the second week in a row, the Philadelphia Eagles are playing a nationally televised game against an NFC North opponent.
The Birds beat the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 10. Now
Nick Sirianni’s squad will be tasked with beating the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football in Week 11.
For what it’s worth, the Eagles are only slightly favored in their next matchup. The Eagles opened as 1.5-point home favorites against Dan Campbell’s team, according to FanDuel.
The last meeting between the Eagles and Lions was back in Week of the 2022 season. It looked like these two teams were bound to meet in the playoffs last season but that didn’t happen with the Washington Commanders pulling off the shocking upset in Detroit.
Whereas the 2025 Eagles haven’t been quite as dominant as the 2024 Eagles, the same can be said of the Lions. Detroit is still very much a good team; they rank fourth in DVOA and point differential. But they’re not without their weaknesses, as evidenced by their Week 9 home loss to a Minnesota Vikings team that the Eagles beat on the road back in Week 7. The Lions also have losses to the Chiefs and the Packers … two teams that were defeated by the Eagles.
This is a tough spot for the Eagles since they’re playing on short rest. The Lions are bound to bring their A-game to Philly. It’s difficult to bet against the Birds when basically all they do is win football games.
But, early on in the week, I’m leaning towards taking the points. Though there are reasons to feel good about Vic Fangio’s defense, it’s really hard to trust the Eagles’ offense.
What say you?
