Good morning, BBN!
Football season is three quarters of the way through, which means college basketball season is approaching. The Kentucky Wildcats had a roller coaster of a summer, but heading into the start of the regular season, the Cats have put together a roster that looks like it can compete in the SEC.
That is also starting to show in the early preseason rankings as the Cats have consistently appeared in the top-25. However, maybe not as high as many would hope.
Here is how several different
outlets have ranked Kentucky:
- On3 (James Fletcher): No. 19
- Evan Miya: No. 19
- CBS Sports (Cameron Salerno): No. 21
- AP Top 25 Poll: No. 23
- Coaches Top 25 Poll: No. 23
- ESPN (Jeff Borzello): No. 25
- KenPom: No. 26
- BartTorvik: No. 27
Luckily, the Cats are right on the cusp of breaking into top-tier contender status, but have a lot to prove as they head into the regular season. Will all the pieces mesh? How good can this offense really be?
We’ll get a better idea of how good this team is heading into the final two exhibitions against Texas Tech and UCF.
Then, with Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina, and Virginia headlining the non-conference schedule, the BBN won’t have to wait long to see if this team can beat some of the nation’s best.
Where do you think the Cats should be ranked?
