Unlike GM05, I didn’t know Matt Mathews was a comedian. I also don’t know what he can’t just have two ‘t’s in both of his names, but that’s neither here nor there…
I did remember those NXT appearances 05 mentioned, but not until after he and our own Josh Jagler reminded me of them. And not until after Kyle Decker dropped the second line from Mathews Wikipedia page in the Slack channel I like to call the “Cageside ‘offices’”…
He is best known for his farm-themed comedy videos on TikTok, his national
stand-up comedy tours, and his work in boudoir photography.
The source of the citation for that amazing sentence if paywall-ed, so I’ll have to do some more digging to give you the backstory on Mathews’ career as a snapper of tasteful erotic pics. I did check out those “farm-themed comedy videos” on his TikTok, and some of the “fabulous gay man on a farm in the American South” humor popped me. I also watched part of one episode of his Farm Chores with Matt & Friends YouTube show featuring other “celebrities” that I assume are influencers or #contentcreators of some sort. It was more “Matt & Friends” than I was interested in, but it was certainly well-made.
Mostly what I learned from Matt’s socials, though? Why WWE continues to use him: 7.8 million TikTok followers, 5 million Facebook followers, and 4 million Instagram followers.
So whatever he does on Sept. 7 on Raw in Birmingham, Alabama, and regardless of whether or not it shows up on Netflix… unless it’s a complete trainwreck, we’re expecting this won’t be Mat Mathews last appearance on WWE programming.
Does that do much for you, positively or negatively?
