All Elite Wrestling returns to pay-per-view tonight (Dec. 27) with Worlds End 2025. The show comes our way from NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
The event begins at 7 pm ET with the Zero Hour pre-show on YouTube. That leads right into the PPV main card at 8 pm ET, which you can buy from PPV.com, HBO Max, Amazon, and YouTube, or you can buy it on traditional PPV. Internationally, it’s on Triller TV, and may be available via those providers as well.
It looks like MJF is already winning back the AEW world championship
Samoa Joe surprised a lot of folks last month
at Full Gear when he defeated Hangman Page inside a steel cage to become the new AEW world champion, thanks to a heel turn from HOOK. But as the event came to a close, Swerve Strickland returned to AEW and took out Joe’s henchmen, setting up a three-way world title feud between Joe, Page, and Strickland at Worlds End.
That equation abruptly changed on the Dec. 17 episode of Dynamite when MJF returned to AEW and cashed in his contract for a world title match. As a result, the Worlds End main event is now a 4-way world title match.
When MJF went on hiatus from AEW three months ago, he vowed not to return until he was ready to be the peak version of himself and win back the world championship. That’s one reason why the pressure is on for him to deliver on his word and not blow this cash in. It looks like betting markets are buying in on MJF’s hype, as places like BetOnline list him as the favorite to win tonight’s main event.
MJF is supremely confident and says he will join a rare list of young multi-time world champions like John Cena, Brock Lesnar and The Rock when he walks out of Worlds End as the new AEW world champion.
MJF’s first reign as AEW world champion came to an end two years ago at Worlds End 2023, at the hands of Joe, so there is some bad personal history with this event that he is also looking to get off his back.
It’s worth noting that MJF got his ass kicked by Swerve and Hangman with a chain on the Dynamite go home show, so if you happen to think reverse momentum is a thing in pro wrestling, perhaps that’s also a good sign for his chances to win the gold at Worlds End.
Will MJF really win back the world championship so soon after returning to AEW, or will Hangman and Swerve prove that he’s not at their level anymore? Tune into Worlds End to see if MJF causes a massive disruption in the AEW world title scene as 2025 comes to a close.
The rest of the card
These remaining 10 matches and segments are also currently advertised for tonight at Worlds End:
Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita in the semifinal round of the Continental Classic
For a lot of fans, Okada vs. Takeshita is the most compelling match at Worlds End. The tension has been building for months with so many middle fingers as they each tried to assert themselves as the number one star in the Don Callis Family. Takeshita easily won the Blue League of the Continental Classic, while Okada got by as the Gold League runner-up, and that’s why they are facing each other in the semifinal round. In order to hang on to his AEW Continental championship, Okada will have to once again prove he’s the best tournament wrestler of all-time by defeating the IWGP world heavyweight champ tonight. Per the tournament rules, nobody is allowed to interfere in this match, so the better man should be the winner.
Kyle Fletcher vs. Jon Moxley in the semifinal round of the Continental Classic
Fletcher won the Gold League in the Continental Classic, while Moxley overcame a rough start to finish as the Blue League runner-up. Fletcher is looking to avoid a repeat of last year, when he won the Blue League but lost in the semifinal round at Worlds End. Meanwhile, if Mox wins the tournament, he can put an end to all this talk that he’s a slumping quitter who has a lost a step or two.
Okada or Takeshita vs. Fletcher or Moxley for the AEW Continental Championship
Okada, Takeshita, and Fletcher all represent the Callis Family, so the math looks stacked in Don’s favor that the Continental Championship will remain in his grip when the final tournament match wraps up.
Babes of Wrath (c) vs. Mercedes Mone & Athena for the AEW women’s world tag team titles
Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale shocked the world when they defeated Timeless Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa to become the first ever AEW women’s world tag team champions. In order to prove their victory was no fluke, now they have to go through TBS Champion Mercedes Mone and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena. The challengers are looking for payback after the Babes eliminated them from the tag championship tournament last month.
FTR (c) vs. Bang Bang Gang in a Chicago Street Fight for the AEW world tag team championship
Bang Bang Gang are getting one more shot at the belts after they blew their last one with a premature celebration when they didn’t realize Dax Harwood’s foot was on the ropes. This time it’s a street fight, which means Stokely and other Bang Bang Gang members can interfere without any repercussions.
Kris Statlander (c) vs. Jamie Hayter for the AEW women’s world championship
Statlander and Hayter temporarily joined forces to fend off the Sisters of Sin, but that alliance is over now as Hayter has her sights set on winning back the AEW world championship. Hayter says Stat should stop trying to be her therapist, and warned that she’s bringing a different version of herself to this title fight.
Darby Allin vs. Gabe Kidd
Darby was removed from the Continental Classic due to injury, but he’s already cleared in time to fight Gabe Kidd at Worlds End. Allin used his car to drag Kidd through the streets in a body bag a while back, so Kidd returned to AEW and kicked Darby down a flight of stairs. One of them may very well end up in the hospital after this one is finished.
Toni Storm & The Conglomeration vs. Death Riders in Mixed Nuts Mayhem
Toni Storm is feuding with Death Rider Marina Shafir, and TNT Champion Mark Briscoe is feuding with Death Rider Daniel Garcia. The babyfaces are now joining forces to deal with the Death Riders on PPV in an 8-person mixed tag team bout. The Death Riders actually want to win this match, though, so that loser Garcia will watch from the sidelines as Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta join Shafir for this fight. Roderick Strong is on board with The Conglomeration to get revenge after the Death Riders injured his friend Kyle O’Reilly, while Orange Cassidy is just, like, whatever man, as he gets to mix it up with The Bastard once again.
Sisters of Sin vs. Hyan & Maya World (pre-show)
I guess the Sisters of Sin need to get back in the winners’ column after putting over Statlander and Hayter at Winter is Coming.
Eddie Kingston vs. Zack Gibson (pre-show)
This is the third straight AEW PPV where Eddie Kingston is booked in an obvious win on the pre-show against lower card fodder, this time in the form of a Grizzled Young Veteran.
Summary
The AEW world championship match and Continental Classic bouts are the biggest attractions at Worlds End, while the rest of the card just looks okay. AEW has set the bar extremely high for top caliber PPV action in 2025, so we’ll see if the wrestlers can over-deliver once again as the year comes to an end.
