The hype surrounding Tre Tucker expands back to training camp this season with Chip Kelly, Pete Carroll, and Geno Smith talking up the third year receiver from Cincinnati. Tucker posted 19 receptions,
331 yards, and 2 TD as a rookie before 47 receptions, 539 yards, and 3 TD in his second season. Through two games, Tucker posted 5 receptions, 66 yards, and a touchdown. Week three changed things for Tucker, seeing him have a career best game with 8 receptions, 145 yards, and three touchdowns on nine targets. The Raiders have seen a lot from Tucker this season, he’s inside the top 8% of the NFL for separation before week three’s data is calculated at over 3 yards per route. Against the Commanders, Tucker lined up against off coverage on 23 of his 33 routes (69.7%), a trend that has risen throughout the season with the Patriots running 38% off coverage and Chargers 47%.
Tucker was just the 3rd receiver since 2019 with three touchdowns in one game against off coverage, while averaging a career best and 2nd highest in the NFL this season 4.6 yards of separation. Tucker has flashed largely due to his fundamental football IQ where Tucker consistently makes himself open finding soft spots in coverages while also working into space when available in scramble drill. Jakobi Meyers is the Raiders top receiver, but with Meyers being a pending free agent after this season a breakout year from Tre Tucker could provide a boost to the Raiders passing attack not just in 2025 but 2026 as well. Las Vegas is seeing Tre Tucker take a big step in 2025, which is allowing them to not only open up the offense but also give the opportunity for more play time from rookie(s) Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton as well. Tucker is stepping into his role as the Raiders 2nd receiver, and the Commanders game is hopefully a start for a big 2025 season.
