With the 2026 recruiting class signed, sealed, and delivered things are already hitting the ground running for the class of 2027.
It may only be mid-February, but recruits are already narrowing lists and
setting official visit dates for the summer. This includes five-star San Diego (CA) Cathedral Catholic safety Honor Fa’alave-Johnson, who announced earlier to day he has trimmed his list of schools down to six. Among them are the Texas Longhorns, who find themselves squarely in the mix for one of the top defensive backs in the country.
Fa’alave-Johnson is a multi-sport star, who is featured on both sides of the football while also posting sub-11 second times in the 100M dash on the track.
Here is the production for Fa’alave-Johnson from 2025 per 247Sports:
Two-way star for Cathedral Catholic, which went 11-3 and played for a California 1-AA state championship. Carried the ball 150 times for 1,532 yards (11.9 YPC) and 23 TD. Also caught 35 passes for 564 yards (16.1 YPC) and 7 TD. Added 40 tackles, 3 INT and 1 FF on defense. Named KUSIPPR Silver Pigskin Player of the Year.
Fa’alave-Johnson displays all of the athletic traits you want from a player that is responsible for patrolling the back end of your defense. With West Coast powers like USC and Oregon in the mix here along with formidable opponents like LSU, Miami, and Notre Dame, this will be a very stout recruitment for the Texas to navigate.
