Maz Pacheco believes there are big things happening at Everton Football Club and feels it is important that everyone is backing the project she is part of with Everton Women.
The 26-year-old, who arrived on a free transfer from Aston Villa, made and instant impact in the Blues’ opening day demolition of Liverpool at Anfield, becoming the first Everton Women player in the WSL to record multiple assists (two) on her competitive debut.
Ormskirk-born Pacheco, who represents the Philippines at international
level, was part of a huge summer of recruitment for the Toffees, who added nine new signings to their ranks, as well as breaking Everton Women’s transfer record with the capture of exciting midfielder Ruby Mace, who arrived from Leicester City.
And Pacheco – no stranger to Goodison Park as a supporter – sees the club willing to back Brian Sorensen’s team as unsurprising and is happy to be part of something special.
“I think to be at a club that has the backing of the owners, the backing of the men’s team and the backing of the staff that work her, I think it is important to play for pride, for the badge,” she said.

“So, for me, it was kind of a no-brainer to see the investment Everton Football Club is putting into the women’s side.
“You want a club that backs the project that you want to achieve.
“There are big things that are happening here and to be a part of it is special.”
With a record of only two wins from their 12 opening games of a WSL season until Sunday, the sheer dominance shown by the Toffees in their first competitive outing of the new campaign will have delighted Sorensen, who named six debutants in his starting XI, including hattrick hero Ornella Vignola, while Mace played the full second half as Everton Women maintained their 100% winning record at Anfield.
And with the first three points in the bag, the Toffees take to the field at their new home of Goodison in competitive action this Sunday, when Tottenham Hotspur visit the Grand Old Lady.
