The Las Vegas Raiders had one of their better offensive performances on Sunday, putting up 27 points. It was their highest home-opener total since 2021, when they beat the Baltimore Ravens.
What shined on offense was creativity with 21 personnel from Klint Kubiak. According to Next Gen Stats, the Raiders ran 21 personnel on 36% of their offensive snaps. He found creative ways to have multiple backs on the field and keep defenses off guard.
At times, Jeanty and Washington were on the field at the same
time. Other times it was Laube and Jeanty. A great example was the second-quarter touchdown to Ashton Jeanty. Laube and the former first-round pick were both in the backfield after the motion. It led to a touchdown, with Kubiak creating a one-on-one with Jeanty and Chris Johnson.
Jeanty was even lined up at fullback at one point. On this play, Michael Mayer made a 14-yard catch after running an angle route out of the backfield from fullback. The Raiders got a first down on this play.
All of this showed the creativity Kubiak brings by moving players around and creating matchups. It will be fun to watch how he keeps finding different ways to keep football teams off guard as the season continues.
