We’re getting started early on our offseason list process this year, and while we’re still a long ways away from the final list being published (you can expect that sometime early next year), our minor league team has begun work on the long list of prospects who are worth knowing. Think of this as the expanded set of prospects who could conceivably factor into a top-25 discussion, even if most won’t make it.
To make this more digestible, we’ve divided the prospects into a couple different categories
based on demographics and previous standing. We’ve also added tiers of likelihood to make the final top-25, which are extremely unscientific but directionally accurate:
- 5 – Lock to make the top-25
- 4 – Near lock to make the top-25
- 3 – Good candidate
- 2 – Long shot
- 1 – Not a serious candidate
This will also likely not be the final version of the list; more names will be added as we continue to do research and have discussions with other evaluators.
2025 Top-25 holdovers
These names all appeared on the 2025 list (you can find that here), are still in the system, and did not so thoroughly collapse as to not be worth considering further:
2025 names who missed
Similarly to the last group, these are names that were on our radar last season but didn’t make the final list, but who now find themselves in a contention for this year’s edition:
New draftees
The Mets added 19 players in the 2025 draft, nearly all of whom are quite interesting, and several of whom will likely make the final top-25 for 2026:
2025 IFA signings
It was a smaller IFA class for the Mets this past season, because most of the money went to Elian Peña. He’s not a top-100 level guy, but the early returns are still trending positive:
2025 risers
There were a number of names that increased their stock significantly this past season, with several clear top-25 candidates in this group:
Some other names
Some guys didn’t have a huge swing in one direction or another this season. None are particularly likely to make the top-25 but are worth mentioning:
Notable fallers
Lastly, we have a handful of guys who have not fallen completely out of consideration for the list, but are notable enough given pedigree or prior standing that they need to be listed somewhere:
