France has decided to delay this year’s Group of 7 Summit in order to avoid a scheduling conflict with UFC’s upcoming White House event on June 14, which will also be President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
While UFC fans are excited for 2026 as a whole as the promotion moves from ESPN to Paramount+, a lot of discussion has revolved around the upcoming UFC fight card on the White House lawn this summer. After all, it’s turning out to be a once-in-a-lifetime event full of incredible spectacles, UFC champions,
and world-class guests.
The event is expected to garner such attention and attract dignitaries from around the world that France isn’t willing to go head-to-head with UFC on Trump’s birthday. Can you blame them?
According to a recent report by news outlet Politico, France will move its annual G7 Summit — which seven major industrial countries discuss key global policy issues — from June 14-16 to June 15-17. This clears the way for UFC’s White House card and Trump’s birthday bash on June 14. French President Emmanuel Macron’s office declined to confirm that the rescheduling is directly related to the UFC event and said the change of date is “the result of our consultations with G7 partners.”
When asked about the G7 Summit delay a White House official told Politico: “As the leader of the free world, our partners believed that President Trump’s attendance at the G7 Summit was essential. They kindly shifted dates to accommodate the U.S. president’s schedule.”
