The Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills are prepping for a Thursday night Week 2 showdown, and with a short week ahead, they’re doing another set of walkthroughs. On Tuesday, the Lions ran another set of walkthroughs, meaning participation levels for these practices are only estimates based on what the coaching staff projects each player could have produced in a full practice.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at Tuesday’s injury report and get you up to date with what we know.

the most recent injury report will be bolded.
Injured list updates
- RB Isiah Pacheco (MCL/Back) — injured reserve, expected to be out until December
During his Monday press conference, Lions coach Dan Campbell noted that Pacheco’s back injury required surgery, and it was “going to be a while” before he would be able to get back on the field. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reported soon after that Pacheco’s surgery was to address a nerve in his back and that his recovery time (roughly 12 weeks) could give him a chance to be back in December.
Estimated no practice on Tuesday
- LG Christian Mahogany (hip)
- RT Blake Miller (knee)
Campbell confirmed on Monday that Mahogany’s injury was not “something serious long-term, but it could be tough to get him ready for Thursday.” That’s Campbell’s way of saying we should probably expect to see Ben Bartch at left guard against the Bills.
Campbell also addressed Miller’s absence, noting that his injury was less clear and they would need more information before making a decision on his status. Fortunately, Miller spoke to the media on Monday and expressed a bit more optimism about being able to play on Thursday.
“I’m doing everything I humanly can to get my body feeling the best it can feel. Even with the progress just today that I’ve made, I’m happy, and I’m optimistic,” Miller said.
Estimated limited practice
- C Juice Scruggs (knee)
- CB D.J. Reed (foot) — NEW INJURY
Scruggs is estimated to have practiced both days this week, which, even if it’s limited, is a good sign that coaches believe he’ll have a chance to play Thursday.
Reed was added to the injury report on Tuesday, suggesting he either injured himself during the walkthrough or was limited by discomfort. Unfortunately, Campbell isn’t scheduled to talk to the media again until after Thursday night’s game, so we will have to wait until Wednesday’s injury designations for an update on his status.
Estimated full practice
- DB Christian Izien (groin)
Another full practice is a good sign for Izien, and based on Campbell’s comments on Tuesday, he may be on track to make his Lions debut this week.
“Last week, we were close but wanted to give him a few more days,” Campbell said of Izien’s potential return from injury. “He’s looked pretty good through the week, and we’ve continued to run him in preparation, hopefully, for this game. He took reps yesterday, so I would say he’s trending the right way—not totally there yet, but there’s a good chance.”
Additionally, Izien told The Athletic’s Colton Pouncy he expects to play on Thursday, further supporting this possibility.
