Making his first start in over a week, Jack Wenninger didn’t really look too sharp, allowing three runs- two earned- over three innings. While he wasn’t particularly great, the bullpen was atrocious. Manager Dick Scott used seven relievers to pitch the next five innings, with only three of them having scoreless appearances. Nick Morabito had a multi-hit game and MJ Melendez remained blistering hot by drawing three walks, but otherwise it was an off-night.

Much like Jonathan Santucci pitching one of his best games last Sunday but that not being enough to give Binghamton a win, Bryce Conley also pitched one of his best games this season, but it also was not enough. The right-hander scattered three runs over six innings, allowing four hits and not walking a single batter while striking out a season-high nine batters- the most he’s struck out since June 2018. Conley was almost the super bad luck loser, as Portland was carrying a shutout into the eighth inning, but the offense thankfully got him off the hook, scratching out three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie things up. The tie did not last long, as reliever Garrett Stratton gave up a solo homer to the second batter he faced. The Ponies got the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth but sent the home crowd home unhappy.

Connor Ware and Emilio Obispo combined to throw six scoreless innings, with the Dominican right-hander allowing a pair of runs to score in the seventh.
