After an offensive explosion in the last two games of their series against the Miami Marlins, the Atlanta Braves continue their 10 game road trip against the Philadelphia Phillies with four games against the National League East division leaders.
Atlanta is in spoiler mode at this point in their season, although there isn’t really anything they can do to spoil the Phillies season, so this match-up will be more about pride than anything else. For the year, the Braves have won four of the nine games
the teams have played, so a series victory would also mean a season series win for Atlanta.
Philly is without star starter Zach Wheeler for the rest of the season but still have a stout rotation. Offensively, Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber are both having outstanding seasons – with Turner at the top of the NL hits list and Schwarber pacing the league in home runs and RBI.
Atlanta will try to counter with a suddenly stroking Ozzie Albies and the resurgent Jurickson Profar. While this series won’t have quite the impact on the division one would have hoped, it should be a much-watch series.
Of note, Friday is another Apple TV+ game, so plan accordingly.
