Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that Karim Adeyemi has been given permission to miss the start of pre-season amid speculation he’s about to complete a move to Barcelona.
The Bundesliga clubs are welcoming their players back today for medical checks as they prepare for the start of the new 2026-27 campaign but Adeyemi is not involved.
The club posted on X: “Karim Adeyemi and Kjell Wätjen are absent from today’s performance diagnostics. Both players have been excused for talks with other clubs.”
Barcelona
are reported to have agreed a transfer for Adeyemi for around 29 million euros, with the forward set to sign a five-year contract with the club.
Adeyemi is expected to have a medical at Barcelona next week and complete his transfer to Hansi Flick’s side.
Barcelona players will be back of pre-season on Monday, although Flick will be without a host of first-teamers due to World Cup 2026.
