There is no hiding the stakes for Bayern Munich vs. Arsenal in the Champions League.
Even Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany cannot deny this is a massive match.
“It feels like it. Recently we played
against the Champions League winners (Paris Saint-Germain) now it feels like we’re playing against probably the most in-form team in Europe, maybe the most complete team in Europe in the way they present themselves in every phase of play,” Kompany told TNT Sports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
“It’s a good challenge. It’s away from home, we won four games, they won four games. The winner of this competition will not be decided by this game, but it’d be awesome to get three points there.”
It was just a few weeks ago when Bayern Munich was in a very similar spot against PSG — on the road, against a powerhouse opponent. Now, though, there is a heightened sense of awareness about the magnitude of the match. It has become the marquee fixture of the matchday and one that will capture the eyes and imaginations of both fan bases and neutrals alike.
