Michigan wide receiver Semaj Morgan is entering the transfer portal, closing the book on an up-and-down three-year stint in Ann Arbor.
A West Bloomfield, Michigan native, Morgan played right away as a true freshman during the Wolverines’ 2023 national title run, quickly carving out a role on offense and special teams.
Morgan appeared in 36 total games during his career (seven starts) and flashed versatility as a receiver and trick play option. In total, Morgan ends his Michigan career with 69 catches for 564 yards and four touchdowns, along with 124 rushing yards and two additional scores.
While the opportunity was there, the consistency wasn’t. Morgan never eclipsed 30 receptions or 250 receiving yards in a season, and his role diminished in 2025 as drops mounted and younger options emerged. Once viewed as a potential long-term contributor, Morgan became more of a rotational piece as the season wore on.
With one year of eligibility remaining, Morgan now looks for a fresh start and a system that can better unlock his skillset. For Michigan, it’s a manageable departure during a period of transition. For Morgan, it’s a chance to reset, regain confidence and finally turn flashes into production.
