LOS ANGELES — Major League Baseball on Friday announced the umpires for the Divisional Series round. For the Dodgers vs. Braves NLDS, the umpire crew will be led by crew chief James Hoye.
This is the 18th career postseason series for Hoye, who has been umpiring in the majors since 2003. He was an umpire for three different Dodgers trips to the NLCS — 2020 and 2021 against the Braves, and 2025 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
For the postseason, umpiring crews expand from four to six umpires, with folks
in left field and right field augmenting the standard four in the infield. Here are the umpiring assignments for Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles:
Home plate: Roberto Ortiz
First base: Chris Guccione
Second base: Hoye
Third base: Tripp Gibson
Left field: Jim Wolf
Right field: Mike Estabrook
Umpires rotate positions throughout the series, such that five different umpires will work behind home plate should Dodgers vs. Braves last the full five games. The lone umpire without a potential home plate assignment is Mike Estabrook, who is in right field for Game 1.
Division Series replay officials in New York for all four Division Series are Marvin Hudson, Dan Iassogna, Malachi Moore, and Mike Muchlinski.
