Not many rookies start their career as hot as Dominic Zvada has so far for the New York Giants.
Through four weeks, Zvada has yet to miss any of his five extra-point attempts or his nine field goals. He scored every point in the team’s Week 3 victory against the Tennessee Titans and came in clutch with three more field goals in the team’s Week 4 victory against the Arizona Cardinals, including kicks of 50 and 52 yards.
Zvada may be just a rookie, but he doesn’t have the mindset of one. He spoke to
the media about how he is adapting to life in the NFL, part of which was set up for him during training camp.
“Throughout training camp they were doing a really good job of trying to get us in as much of a game-like situation as possible with just a little bit of fun hostility. And so, yeah, they did a great job, and it really helped prepare all of us for the preseason, and then obviously the season,” Zvada said.
“It kind of got us ready for that early so that when we got to the games, we were already used to that sort of thing, so I thought it was great work, and hopefully they continue to do it.”
Zvada has stuck with a routine he developed as a college kicker.
“Throughout college I was able to kind of get into a good routine and I’ve kind of stuck with that,” he said on Tuesday. “Really the focus going into the season was just to come in and get better every single day and stay focused on the task at hand.”
Zvada won a training camp competition with Ben Sauls, and has come in clutch for the Giants throughout the season.
Zvada and the Giants are back in action in Week 5 against the Washington Commanders. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET inside Northwest Stadium. Fans can watch the game on FOX or stream it on the FOX One app.
