And another one.
Tennessee guard Bishop Boswell will also hit the transfer portal, following J.P. Estrella, Cade Phillips and Clarence Massamba out the door so far.
This was Boswell’s first season starting for Rick Barnes, and he emerged as Tennessee main
defensive stopper. The 6-4 guard is coming off of his sophomore season with two years left to play.
Boswell became one of the best defenders in the country, while also emerging as a three-point threat. He ended up shooting over 38 percent from three-point range, although that came with low volume (30-78). Boswell added 4.4 rebounds and three assists per game.
The Charlotte, North Carolina native is a former 4-star prospect.
So Tennessee has now lost both starting guards, with Ja’Kobi Gillespie out of eligibility. The Volunteers have already added Tyler Lundblade from Belmont to replace some shooting. They’ll now need another starting point guard, and now at least a couple of more bodies in the backcourt. Amari Evans remains, along with Ethan Burg and Troy Henderson — obviously with the *for now* caveat.
The transfer portal will officially open on Tuesday.
