The Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the SIUE Cougars in their fourth game of the season on Monday, looking to start a big week on the right track.
Wisconsin had just one game last week, facing the Ball
State Cardinals on Monday and easily winning 86-55 thanks to a hot start and a second-half run. Nolan Winter was the star in the victory, putting up 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Badgers, while four others hit double figures.
The Badgers shot 50 percent from the field in the win and ended up hitting 14 threes, while holding Ball State to under 35 percent from the field in their best defensive performance of the year so far.
Wisconsin takes on an SIUE team that has started the year 3-1 with wins over UTSA and Drake and a 64-55 loss to Indiana State. Their defense has been the story so far, as SIUE has allowed just 58.3 points per game, which ranks 12th in the country.
They’ve held opponents to under 35 percent shooting and under 28 percent from three, so Wisconsin will need to find ways to be efficient and move the ball well, as they have on Monday.
SIUE has also held opponents to limited free throws (under 15 per game), while being a stout rebounding team (over 12 offensive rebounds per game). Of course, Wisconsin’s size can cause problems, but this game could be tougher than expected for the Badgers.
