Conor McGregor has been very active on social media since his UFC 329 loss, which saw him injure his leg off the first in-cage kick he threw in five years. His fight with Max Holloway lasted just over a minute, leaving people feeling pretty ripped off.
But there’s no rest for “The Notorious” as the Irish sports star rolled right into heavy promotion of his new hustle: Mac Energy, an energy drink powered by ‘goBHB ketones.’ Those coming to his Instagram page hoping for answers to what happened on Saturday
night were instead told to suck on a Macberry Lychee drink. Enjoy an Orange Creamsicle, why don’t you?
Mixed into the literal dozens of ads McGregor added to his social media account in the past 24 hours was one related to the UFC 329 fight and injury.
“A few notes,” McGregor wrote. “1. I will have the results of the scan on my leg tomorrow. 2. The fight should be a no contest and all bets returned.”
According to ESPN, roughly 85% of the bets coming in on McGregor vs. Holloway 2 were placed on McGregor, which just goes to show you how popular the Mac is and how convincing he was in the lead-up to his fight. A lot of people lost a lot of money betting on McGregor, which may be why there’s so much fuel behind accusations that McGregor came into his fight with a pre-existing injury and just competed long enough to collect a paycheck.
This latest message probably won’t quiet the conspiracy theorists, who have been analyzing footage from fight week of McGregor putting his shoes on and stumbling. Conor was also spotted entering a building in Vegas with a pain clinic days before the bout. Now he says he’ll have the result of the scan on his leg today, nearly a week after the fight?
Conor McGregor is a multi-millionaire. He gets the absolute best medical care in the world, and there’s no way he’s had to wait six days to find out what’s wrong with his knee. Any sports doctor worth their salt would have been able to diagnose the problem with a five minute hands-on examination, confirmed by a scan and results which would have been available hours later. Maybe McGregor is waiting for the official plan of attack from his doctors on how to treat the knee, based on latest scans on a post-inflammation scan.
But the first results of the scan? Get the f–k outta here.
It’s this kind of stuff that has people questioning whether McGregor’s entire fight and now his post-fight messages are just one big performance from someone who knew they weren’t healthy enough to make it through a fight. We’ll keep you updated on the big injury reveal, brought to you by Mac Energy.
