The Wildcats finally put on a show last time they took the field, but then they got a week off. Will that week result in rust, or in more improvement? We’ll see, but it had better be the latter if The Streak is to continue.
The Game
The Kansas State Wildcats (3-4, 2-2 Big 12) visit the Kansas Jayhawks (4-3, 2-2 Big 12).
Kansas leads the series 64-53-5, but since 1924 K-State leads 52-47-2. It’s 28-4 since 1993.
And it’s 16-0 since 2009.
Jalon Daniels is still around, meaning Kansas has a huge threat handy. The
Jayhawks have a two-headed monster at running back with Leshon Williams and David Hishaw, along with Daniels, averaging 120 yards a game between them, and Daniels is throwing for 263 a game. One bright spot: Daniels has been sacked 13 times against 18 touchdowns.
The Jayhawks have only given up seven passing touchdowns all year, and are only giving up 206 yards a game. However, they’re allowing 188 a game on the ground, and yes, you read that right. Only 16 teams in FBS are giving up more rushing yards, and only one Power 5 team — Arkansas, which has given up a whole three yards more on the season.
Kickoff
Saturday, October 25, 11:00am CT at Memorial Stadium (50,250) in Lawrence, Kansas.
Tickets
We don’t know if this is because K-State fans have already raided the secondary market, but the lowest ticket price on the secondary market is $85 and the median is $140. A bunch of these seats are on the visitor sideline.
Weather
It’s going to be rainy and in the mid-50s for the entire duration of the festivities.
Odds
K-State opened as 3.5-point underdogs, and DraftKings still has the line at +3.5 with the over at 55.5. Vegas math thus says 29-26 win for the Beakers. The money line is +142 for K-State, -170 for Kansas. Oddsshark is even more pessimistic; its computer projects a 35-28 Kansas win.
Television
TNT! J.B. Long, Mike Golic Jr., and Coy Wire bring you the call.
Radio
As always, Wyatt Thompson, Stan Weber, and Matt Walters will be on hand on the K-State Sports Network as well as via satellite on SiriusXM 380.
Internet Streaming
The game will stream on HBO Max (subscription required) and the TruTV app (not sure about a subscription there). We also can’t give you a direct link because nobody’s provided one and subscriptions through third parties have their own link. Wauuugh! Audio available via kstatesports.com.
