NC State is making its first trip to Stanford since the Cardinal joined the ACC, which is to say that we’re in for a very late night of who-knows-what. Should be fun. The Wolfpack is a seven-point favorite to win this one, and if there’s any sort of turnaround on the horizon for this group, it’s gotta start right here.
Stanford is not only the worst team in the ACC according to SP+ (and everyone’s eyeballs) but is also the worst power-conference team in the country. Other than that, things are going
really well.
The Cardinal is 3-4 overall, 1-3 in the ACC. It has lost to four of the five power-conference teams it has faced, all four by at least 28 points. The anomaly in there is a 34-27 home win over Georgia Tech—Stanford scored more points in that one win than in the four losses combined. So the Cardinal do have the ability to jump out and get you, especially at home.
But that is just the hideous, inexplicable blemish that NC State has to avoid. Let’s hope that Tech took one for the rest of the league and left Stanford without any more upsets in it.
