When Bay FC takes on reigning NWSL champions Gotham FC tonight at PayPal Park, they’ll see the return of their star defender.
Today, the club announced that it has activated defender Abby Dahlkemper from maternity leave and she will be available for selection.
“We’re delighted to welcome Abby back onto the active roster,” said Bay FC Head Coach Emma Coates. “Abby has worked incredibly hard throughout her recovery, and the commitment she has shown to return speaks volumes about her professionalism and determination.
She brings a wealth of experience, leadership and quality to our back line, and we’re excited to have her available again. We’re looking forward to the impact she can make as we head into this business end of the season.”
In September of last year, the Bay Area native announced pregnancy before welcoming her child this February.
The World Cup champion joined her home club in August 2024 and helped Bay FC make history as the second expansion side to make the playoffs.
Her presence will boost Emma Coates’ backline that features CANWNT defender Sydney Collins and one of the rising stars at goalkeeper, Jordan Silkowitz.
