The driver in Anthony Joshua’s fatal car crash did not have a valid driver’s license.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, appeared in Sagamu Magistrate Court on Friday, where he was charged with driving causing
death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention causing bodily harm and damage to property, and driving without a valid national driver’s license.
Bail was set at $3,500.
Kayode will return to court on Jan. 20.
The 36 year-old Joshua, who was in Nigeria just days after his Jake Paul fight, was hospitalized in the wreck. Personal trainer Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami, who were also in the vehicle when it collided with a parked truck, did not survive the crash.
Joshua is expected to remain in Nigeria during his recovery, according to the Associated Press. A timeline for his return to boxing has yet to be determined but is likely the farthest thing from Joshua’s mind after Monday’s tragic crash.
