Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s future at the club is uncertain, according to a report by The Athletic.
Carvajal’s current contract expires in June 2026, and a possible renewal has not been agreed upon by the club or the player at the moment.
Rai reveals that Real Madrid are not certain about the renewal right now because of the player’s injury problems, having been unable to fully recover from a physical standpoint.
After tearing his ACL in 2024, Carvajal returned at the end of last season in the Club
World Cup. However, a few months into the new season, he suffered another long-term injury, keeping him out for two months.
Even though Carvajal has been on the squad list for multiple games and played a few minutes, he has yet to start a single game for the club since returning.
Rai’s sources close to the situation feel like this renewal may not have to be decided at the end of the season, and whatever the case may be, everything will be done on a mutual agreement.
It is also reported that the player will not go to a team that can face Real Madrid in the league or the Champions League.
