The Chargers are not coming out of the bye week with a clean bill of health.
To get the positives out of the way first, offensive tackle Joe Alt was not on Wednesday’s injury report which is massive news for the offense. After receiving good news on his neck injury, it looks like he’s been able to be ramped up fast.
Unfortunately, that good news coincides with the recent Derwin James news. Per Jim Harbaugh, James is considered a candidate for IR after he suffered a setback with his hamstring injury
over the bye. Unsurprisingly, James did not practice Wednesday.
After missing the past four games, both guard Kayode Awosika and receiver Brenen Thompson are still sidelined with fibula and hamstring/quad injuries, respectively. The Awosika injury remains a frustrating one as he was not placed on IR for a reason, but now is on pace to miss his fifth game.
On the brother side, receiver Tre’ Harris (hamstring) and cornerback Donte Jackson (hamstring) both returned to the practice field as limited participants. Ladd McConkey, who left the Chiefs game with a concussion, was a full participant to begin Week Eight.
