UNC is gearing up to take on Navy later tonight at the Dean Smith Center. This will be the final game in what has been an exceptionally long home stay for the Tar Heels before they travel to Florida to face
off against St. Bonaventure.
This will be considered yet another tune-up game for the Tar Heels — they are the 24.5-point favorites in this one, which tracks given the fact that the Midshipmen already have losses against Yale and Penn State. One of the more important things to watch in this one is how Carolina takes care of the ball after turning it over 10 times in the first half against NCCU. Hubert Davis has put a strong emphasis on taking care of the basketball, so we’ll see if they learned anything from that game that they can apply to this one.
The other thing to keep an eye on is the development of the bench. We already know what just about every starter is capable of on the roster, but Davis needs quality members from guys like Jonathan Powell, Zayden High, James Brown, and Jaydon Young. There are only so many experimental games left where Davis can try weird lineup combinations before things get serious. Look for him to continue his quest to see who will get quality minutes off the bench as we get closer to the meat of the non-conference schedule.
