Heading into a big week, Illinois has reached its highest AP poll position since November.
The Illini checked in Monday at No. 11, up from No. 13 last week.
Illinois has gotten as high as No. 8 this season in mid-November after an undefeated start to the season.
At 15-3 and on a seven-game winning streak, Brad Underwood’s team is among the nation’s best — and the Illini will have a chance to prove it this week.
After a Wednesday showdown with lowly Maryland, the Illini visit West Lafayette on Saturday
for a battle with the Boilermakers.
By the way, Nebraska is still undefeated. Illinois came seconds away from beating them, so that might be the best loss on their resume this season. This team can keep flying up the rankings, because they’re that good.
