Even in the most lackluster and disjointed of cupcake games some Bulldogs are bound to distinguish themselves with effort and results that stand out above the crowd. Those undaunted ‘Dawgs are your MVDs, the most valuable ‘’Dawgs from Georgia’s 28-6 victory over the Austin Peay Governors.
Offense: The tailbacks. I couldn’t pick just one. Nate Frazier, Chauncey Bowens and Dwight Phillips, Jr. combined to rush 32 times for 180 yards and 4 touchdowns on the day. It feels like if the offensive line could ever
get in a rhythm these guys could have one of those 200+ yard games where they just physically dominate an opposing defense. Even with the rotating cast up front each showed a spark today, to say nothing of the 32 yards Cash Jones added receiving. That early Nate Frazier fumble aside, it was a solid game for the entire unit.
Defense: CJ Allen. Just another ho-hum All-SEC caliber effort from the Barnesville Bruiser, with 7 total tackles, 5 of them solo stops, a sack, and 1.5 tackles for loss. Week in and week out Allen just makes plays. He’s going to be heck to replace in 2026, but I’m going to enjoy watching him in the meantime.
Special Teams: Brett Thorson. The Thunder from Down Under made his season debut with a solid effort. Thorson dropped one punt 34 yards into the waiting hands of Cash Jones at the Austin Peay 4 yard line. His other three kicks were boomers that averaged 47.0 yards apiece. I suspect we’re going to need Thorson to force the Tennessee offense to try going the long way to the end zone next week. It was good to see him looking in midseason form.
