Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is ‘absolutely gutted’ about the injury he suffered against Athletic Club on Sunday, he said on his Instagram page.
Trent was having a great game for Real Madrid
in their 3-0 win over Athletic, but Trent got injured in the second half, and it immediately looked worrying.
It was confirmed later that the Englishman will miss up to two months of action following an injury to his quad.
In a post after the game at San Mames, Trent talked about the injury and looked forward to returning to footballing action in 2026.
He said: “Absolutely gutted about this one. The timing of it hurts, but I will work hard to come back stronger and better! See you in 2026, Madridistas.”
The injury came at the worst possible time for Trent, who was finally starting to look like the player Real Madrid expected when they signed him.
He has shown glimpses of brilliance but has also struggled with fitness, and Trent would hope that 2026 is a much better year for him to get comfortable at the club.
