The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their initial injury report Wednesday ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, with three players sitting out practice and two others participating on a limited basis.
Running back Kenny Gainwell (hip), offensive tackle Luke Goedeke (calf) and linebacker Josiah Trotter (illness) were all listed as non-participants to begin the week.
Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who continues to deal with concussion and foot injuries, was limited in practice. Outside
linebacker Yaya Diaby was also limited due to an illness.
There was some encouraging news for Tampa Bay, however. Quarterback Baker Mayfield (right thumb) and safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (rib) were both full participants Wednesday. Mayfield returned to action in last week’s 43-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers, while Winfield’s participation is another positive development for the Buccaneers’ defense.
Atlanta also opened the week with several players sidelined. Defensive back Billy Bowman Jr. (hamstring), linebacker Divine Deablo (forearm) and running back Brian Robinson (hamstring) did not participate in practice. Defensive end Za’Darius Smith was also held out for rest.
The Falcons had six players listed as limited participants, including defensive end Samson Ebukam (hamstring), defensive linemen LaCale London (chest) and Charles Snowden (back), offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor (hamstring), cornerback Avieon Terrell (illness) and wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus (shoulder).
Wide receiver Beaux Collins (hip) and offensive tackle Cameron Williams (ankle) were full participants.
Both teams will continue monitoring their injured players throughout the week, with Thursday’s practice providing another indication of their progress before Friday’s final injury designations.
The Buccaneers (2-5) host the Falcons (3-4) on Sunday, November 1, at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
