Bayern Munich and Germany winger Serge Gnabry has turned in strong performance after strong performance so far in 2025/26, as he looks ahead to next summer’s Men’s World Cup — as well as his own impending free agency.
That free agency may never arrive, though, if he re-ups with his current club. And that is becoming a more concrete possibility, according to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
As captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER:
There is a clear trend towards an extension with FC Bayern
for Serge Gnabry. It’s about at least 1-2 years that he could extend for – but then with reduced salary. The talks are ongoing and will be pushed forward in the near future. [@Plettigoal, TUdS]
Gnabry has certainly lit up the field this season for both club and country. If Bayern does not act soon, they will lose him for nothing — clubs like Juventus and Liverpool are poking around. On the other hand, Gnabry is 30 at and playing at a position where the drop off can come fast. From the player’s perspective, there could not be a better time to test the open market and see what numbers other clubs come up with. How far will the Bavarians extend to extend their winger?
