To say Harry Kane is the best striker in the world may be inaccurate. Not because the Englishman isn’t technically the best striker in the world, but after Bayern Munich’s 2-1 victory against Borussia
Dortmund it’s difficult to say Kane even plays striker. In fact, it would be difficult to say that Kane plays any position.
If you didn’t catch the game, then take a look at the 32-year-old marksman’s heat map (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
According to the above graphic, if there was a position called “everywhere”, then that’s where Kane played.
Now, before you put on your critics hat and bemoan Kane for not spending enough time in the box, take a moment to consider that he not only scored a goal, but was also instrumental in build up and defense. Based on data recorded by OptaFranz (via @iMiaSanMia), Kane even broke his record for the most successful long passes completed (11) in a single game.
After his performance against Dortmund, it would be hard to argue that Kane isn’t the most complete striker in the world. A goal scoring machine, playmaker and defensive rock combined, Harry Kane is truly a sight to behold. Heck, it wouldn’t be a stretch to call him the best player in the world.
Bayern Munich got off to a rousing start during its 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the latest edition of Der Klassiker, but it was a nervy ending for the Bavarians.
The home side appeared to wear down and wilt under pressure from Borussia Dortmund as the game went on, but it was a gutty effort to even preserve the win under what many would consider to be a shaky second half. Head coach Vincent Kompany will have to find a way to deal with the weariness of his boys, but for now, let’s talk about how it all played out.
