Motivated by going undrafted, Cowboys’ Michael Trigg hopes to make most of chance – Nick Harris, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
The Dallas Cowboys handed out $200,000 to sign Michael Trigg in undrafted free agency.
Throughout the years, the Dallas Cowboys have found gems in the undrafted free agent ranks that have gone on to be superstars for the team. From Tony Romo to Drew Pearson to Cliff Harris and Nate Newton, Dallas has prided itself on finding the best talent that doesn’t hear their names called in the draft year-after-year.
In 2026, they’re hoping to hit on the same fortune. And considering Baylor tight end Michael
Trigg received the most guaranteed money of all the undrafted players (tied with DJ Rogers out of TCU), the bank is on him.
A five-year player in the NCAA with previous stops at USC and Ole Miss, Trigg shined in his final season in Waco where he hauled in 50 receptions for 694 yards and six touchdowns. His jump-ball and contested-catch ability made him a dangerous weapon for the Bears offense, and it’s something that Dallas saw early on in the draft process.
“Going undrafted was definitely not part of the dream that I had for myself,” Trigg said. “It’s definitely humbling, it’s definitely motivating. Honestly, with the way everything went, it’s not good to harp on the bad. I’m just going to let it motivate me.”
During Trigg’s Pro Day, Cowboys tight ends coach Lunda Wells worked him out personally after taking him to dinner the night before. The two remained in contact throughout the draft process. When he went undrafted, the decision to sign with Dallas was an easy one for Trigg because of the relationship he had built with his new position coach.
“It played a lot,” he said. “Coach Wells showed me that he wanted me to be a part of his team and his room. Just really being hands-on during my Pro Day, even some of the drills that I went through [in rookie minicamp], I went through them at my Pro Day, so I was ahead of the game a bit.”
Dallas Cowboys add one UDFA rookie offensive tackle, waive another – R.J. Coyle, Dallas Morning News
The Cowboys are fine-tuning the bottom end of their roster before mini-camp.
The Dallas Cowboys have added another undrafted rookie following the team’s rookie minicamp.
The Cowboys signed offensive lineman DJ Wingfield after the weekend’s camp, according to Wingfield’s agent Brent Tessler. The 6-4, 316-pound tackle spent time at New Mexico, Purdue and USC.
An older rookie, Wingfield was ruled ineligible for his final season of collegiate ball after a long legal battle vs. the NCAA, where he applied for a waiver to play for a seventh season of college football and was denied. He sued the NCAA in the summer of 2025, but a U.S. District Court judge denied his request for injunctive relief.
“Very talented guy got a large NIL deal from USC last year but was ruled ineligible by the NCAA right before the start of the season,” Tessler posted on social media.
In his final season at Purdue in 2024, he started all 12 games at right guard for the Boilermakers.
The Cowboys also waived Baylor UDFA Sidney Fugar, another offensive tackle who worked out with Dallas over the weekend.
Cowboys set to host free agent cornerback for visit – RJ Ochoa, Blogging the Boys
Adoree’ Jackson does have familiarity with defensive coordinator Christian Parker.
Christian Parker has gotten a lot for his defense, but he may be on the verge of getting more. It was reported on Tuesday by Jordan Schlutz that the Cowboys are hosting free agent cornerback Adoree’ Jackson for a visit.
Jackson has had a number of stops in the NFL, but he most recently played for the Philadelphia Eagles so he played in Parker’s secondary there.
As noted, the Cowboys have really re-stocked the cupboard with the ingredients that Parker appears anxious to cook with. He has gotten some players who he worked with in the past in Rashan Gary and P.J. Locke, but no former Eagles player made his way to Dallas this offseason when we expected at least one to do so.
Jackson was a first-round pick of the Tennessee Titans back in 2017 and played out his rookie contract with the team (there was some drama around his fifth-year option initially being exercised and then taken away as he was cut before it went into effect) before signing with the New York Giants in 2021. He was there for four seasons, so he has some familiarity against CeeDee Lamb and Co. to say the least, before joining the Eagles last year.
The Cowboys have needed to overhaul their cornerback group for a long time, and while their safety situation has been more than taken care of, this room still needs work. Jackson could provide yet another option and be one that Christian Parker has familiarity with from last year.
Seahawks signing pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr. to one-year deal worth up to $5 million – Kevin Patra, NFL.com
Another former Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end joins Aden Durde in Seattle with the Seahawks.
The Seattle Seahawks have added some veteran help for their pass rush.
Edge Dante Fowler Jr. is signing with the Seahawks on a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per sources.
The Seahawks were in need of some pass-rush help off the edge after losing Boye Mafe to the Cincinnati Bengals in free agency. Seattle eschewed edge rushers in the draft, indicating a veteran addition would likely be on the way. Fowler visited with the club before the draft, making the pairing likely.
The No. 3 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2015, Fowler has compiled 58.5 sacks in 11 seasons with the Jags, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys (two stints) and Washington Commanders. In 2024, the veteran generated 10.5 sacks in Washington. Last year, in a return to Dallas, he netted just three QB takedowns but earned 27 pressures for an 11.8 pressure percentage, per Next Gen Stats.
Turning 32 in August, Fowler can still bring some pop as a rotational edge presence. It’s a sensible signing for the Super Bowl champs, who add Fowler to an edge rush that includes Demarcus Lawrence, Uchenna Nwosu and Derick Hall. Fowler spent time with Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde in Atlanta and Dallas.
