On Saturday, the Chicago Bears made a couple of unexpected roster moves when they placed left tackle Braxton Jones and nickleback Kyler Gordon on injured reserve.
Jones, who was limited at Wednesday’s practice
but didn’t practice on Thursday or Friday with a knee injury, was serving as the backup left tackle since Theo Benedet won the starting job a couple of weeks ago.
Gordon, who just returned to the lineup a couple of weeks ago, injured his groin/calf at practice this week. Each player will now miss a minimum of four games while on IR.
The Bears also announced that defensive tackle Jonathan Ford was signed to the 53-man roster off their practice squad.
Chicago elevated a couple of practice squad players for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens: tight end Stephen Carlson and cornerback Dallis Flowers.
Missing from today’s transactions were activations off injured reserve for either defensive lineman Austin Booker (knee) or linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga (knee). Both players have been downgraded to out on the game’s injury report and will remain on IR. Booker’s 21-day practice window expires on Tuesday, so he’ll need to be activated by then or he’ll remain on injured reserve all season.
In case you missed it, here’s the injury report for the game.
